I am drooling over this necklace by artist Amie Plante. It’s bold. It’s delicate. And it strikes that perfect balance between sorta crazy and totally fantastic. I’d pair this one with a black tee and jeans, or the simplest, no-frills black dress.

At $120, it’s both affordable enough and expensive enough to torture me endlessly. I really need this necklace.

That’s the first-ever web server, folks.

This NeXT workstation (a NeXTcube) was used by Tim Berners-Lee as the first Web server on the World Wide Web. Today, it is kept in Microcosm, the public museum at the Meyrin site of CERN, in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland.

The document resting on the keyboard is a copy of “Information Management: A Proposal,” which was Berners-Lee’s original proposal for the World Wide Web.

The label on the cube itself has the following text: “This machine is a server. DO NOT POWER IT DOWN!!”

Happy 10th, Roq La Rue:

Roq La Rue is one of my favorite galleries in Seattle, bar none—they’re forever showing the most interesting contemporary artists.

Must go check out their 10th anniversary show. Travis Louie has a few pieces there (which sold in a flash), and he is sensational. I dream of the day I can afford one of his gentlemanly monster portraits with their bizarre, fantastical biographies, like Norman and Jenkins.
